For a Better World, We Plant

The Emirates Environmental Group conducted its annual tree planting campaign ‘For Our Emirates We Plant’ at the Manai Bree Reserve, Ras al Khaimah. This significant event took place on 17.12.22 under the patronage of H. E. Engr. Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, member of the Executive Council of the Government of Ras Al-Khaimah and Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation.

Schools, Corporate and Government entities collectively planted native saplings of Samar trees in Al Munai Area south of Ras Al Khaimah. These urban afforestation programme, in addition to providing a habitat for the local bees, insects and other native species, also acts as a natural carbon sink; which will contribute to the mitigation of carbon emissions in the UAE and help accelerate the progress towards achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal #13.” Our Own Boys got to plant two ghaf trees. We ‘earned’ this opportunity by actively participating in EEG’s recycling projects. Our student volunteers, who were part of this campaign, also planted trees in their own names.
