The 15th Annual Athletic Meet 2024, held on October 30th, was a vibrant celebration of athleticism and unity. Embracing the theme, “Pushing the Frontiers, Creating Milestones,” the event inspired athletes to surpass their limits and aim for new records.
The day began with an impressive march past by the four houses, led by the spirit of competition and unity, followed by the solemn oath-taking ceremony and the lighting of the symbolic torch, marking the official start of the Annual Athletic Meet. Esteemed Chief Guest, Mr. Craig Eswert Munangatire, a renowned sports management professional, delivered an inspiring message, commending the school’s dedication to nurturing athletic talent and sharing his perspective: “True wisdom lies in acknowledging one’s limitations.” He encouraged athletes to approach competitions with open hearts, striving not only for victory but for growth and self-improvement, while embracing challenges and enjoying the journey.
In his insightful address, our Principal and CEO – Mr. Srivalsan Murugan highlighted the role of sportsmanship in education, emphasizing that it teaches students resilience, perseverance, and the importance of always striving to be the best version of themselves.
A new and captivating addition at the meet this year was the 24-member marching band, which energized the opening ceremony with rhythmic beats and harmonious melodies, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day’s events. The competition saw athletes across all categories—juniors to super seniors—participate in exhilarating events including the highly anticipated inter-school 4x100m relay, where teams from neighboring schools competed with remarkable energy and teamwork, highlighting the spirit of friendly competition and athletic excellence beyond school boundaries. The teachers too joined in the excitement, with the gents competing in a lively three-legged race and the ladies showcasing their skills in a thrilling ball-balancing act and a spirited chair race.
The event concluded with an award ceremony, celebrating the divisional champions and the Overall Champion House - Mars House. The 2024 meet was indeed not just an event but a testament to resilience, teamwork, and OOB’s enduring spirit of sportsmanship.
