The student leadership conference at GWA
Flow of the Event: The student leadership conference at GWA was conducted by senior executives of the student council of GWA. The conference commenced with an introduction to the various committees at GWA and an opening workshop on crafting SOP (statement of purpose) for the leaders. This encouraged everyone to connect their leadership goals with real-world decision- making and prompted them to reflect on how their values influence their choices. Then the student executives of the Eco council engaged everyone with an activity that highlighted the importance of sustainability in leadership practices. The House executives of GWA led an activity session on how leaders should strike a balance in the multiple traits that define effective leadership. The Wellbeing team shared their initiatives in school like Mindful Monday, Fitness Challenges, and Fitness Friday, and also delivered an activity-based session on recognizing and addressing burnout in leaders. It emphasized the importance of balancing responsibilities and making choices that prioritize health. The Voice executives of the Student Voice team concluded the conference with a debate on key leadership topics.
Feedback: The conference was an activity-based leader engagement program that provided an opportunity for all school leaders of different GEMS schools to network, participate in creative and collaborative activities, all aiming to inspire leaders to lead with a purpose in their respective roles.
