The 19th International Youth Conference (IYC'24)

The 19th International Youth Conference (IYC'24), held on 8th November 2024 at The Emirates National School, revolved around the compelling theme "Youth for a New Global Culture." The conference aimed to empower young minds to explore the evolving global cultural dynamics and their role in fostering inclusivity.

Four students from Our Own English High School, Sharjah – Boys represented the school.

The conference provided a platform for participants to delve into critical aspects of single, dual, and third cultures. The discussions focused on essential 21st-century skills such as:

• Code-switching: Adapting communication styles across cultural contexts.
• Communication: Fostering open and effective dialogue.
• Collaboration: Building synergy among diverse individuals.
• Creativity: Harnessing innovative thinking to address global challenges.

The program unfolded in an engaging and interactive manner:

• Icebreaker Sessions: Designed to promote bonding, these activities helped participants break barriers and connect effortlessly with peers.
• Talent Show: A showcase of the students' diverse talents brought energy and vibrancy to the event, reflecting the creative potential of youth.
• Outdoor Activities: The day concluded with physical activities in the open air, fostering informal networking and ensuring a refreshing close to a fruitful day.

IYC'24 was a resounding success, fostering cultural understanding and emphasizing the pivotal role of youth in shaping a cohesive and inclusive global culture. The event inspired participants to become ambassadors of collaboration and innovation in a multicultural world.
