Read to Succeed: A Week of Library Celebrations

12 Sep 2024

At Our Own English High School - Boys in Sharjah, Library Week from 9th to 12th September transformed the primary department into a vibrant hub of literary activities. From lively Story Circles to inspiring readings by school leaders, each day offered students a unique opportunity to celebrate and engage with the world of books.

The festivities began on the 9th with International Literacy Day, featuring a Story Circle where students shared their favourite books and authors with their peers, sparking enthusiastic discussions and a shared love for reading. On the 10th, our Vice Principal Ms. Sindhu P Nair enchanted Grade 3 students with a story reading in the school library, adding a special touch to their literary experience. The following day, Ms. Raisa Khan, the Kindergarten Supervisor, captivated Grade 1 students with a story session in the Multi-Purpose Hall. Additionally, our Grade 2 students shared stories with the KG 2 students, fostering a sense of mentorship and community. On the 12th, Ms. Mili Thomas, the Grades 9 and 10 Supervisor, engaged the Grade 2 students with her reading session.

Throughout the week, Grade 1 students also had the opportunity to read to the Senior Leadership Team and School Management Team members. Library Week was a resounding success, celebrating the joy of reading and strengthening connections within the school.
